Wittenberg

In the Luther House Wittenberg which is part of the World Cultural Heritage a subtile luminaire for the building and the exhibition was required. A complete series of luminaires was design and developed based on a spot light head to cope with the various spatial situations in the house. The lying halogen light source gave the unusual size of the head and it allowed a minimal height of the body and handsome backside. Singular and multiple spots are being used in recessed and surface-mounted versions as well as in wall lights, profiles, floor standing lamps and track-mounted spots. The semi-recessed mounting gives a close connection between the housing for the driver and the spot heads which are rotatable on rotary plates and can be tilted up to 90°. As a result of this idea MAWA Design developed a successful standard product and is offering a variety of options for all types of usage.In 2016 the system was revised and the same shape with modern LED-technology, considerably higher light output and without visible screws and cables it was re-introduced as Wittenberg 4.0. The full-area lens is now interchangeable without the use of tools and the patented Bajonett socket of the head allows the fitting to be recessed without a trim and to have versions with smaller sized casings. Small recessed luminaires and reduced case sizes were extensions to the product family and additional versions of the luminaire are in development.
